For Local 2, a Deal in West Milwaukee
    Local 2 recently reached at tentative contract agreement with the Village of West Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW).
    Under the two-year deal, the two parties agreed to a 2.5 percent across-the-board wage increase effective Jan. 1, 2006; and a 2 percent across-the-board wage increase effective July 1, 2007.
    On the overtime front, Local 2 and West Milwaukee DPW agreed to incorporate into the contract the contract the one-half hour of travel time paid for overtime call-in.
    As for health insurance: Effective Jan. 1, 2007, West Milwaukee will pay an amount toward the premium cost of up to 105 premium of the premium cost of the lowest-cost plan offered, minus an employee contribution of 7.5 percent per month, not to exceed $50 per month for a single plan and $125 per month for a family plan. If an employee chooses a plan other than the lowest-cost plan, the employee also must pay any premium cost over 105 percent of the lowest-cost plan. All employee contributions will come via payroll deduction.
    Also: Effective Jan. 1, 2006, the village increased the clothing allowance to $250; effective Jan. 1, 2007, the allowance will increase to $265.

Local 133: a three-year pact in Oak Creek
    Local 133 recently reached a three-year agreement with the city of Oak Creek. Under the deal’s terms, Local 133 employees received a 3.25 percent across-the-board wage increase effective Jan. 1, 2006. They’ll also receive a 3.25 across-the-board increase effective Jan. 1, 2006, and a 3.0 percent across-the-board hike effective Jan. 1, 2008.
    In the health-insurance realm, employees opting for self-funded coverage each month must contribute 10 percent of the cost of the premium for a single and family plan, respectively, effective Jan. 1, 2006. Employees and dependants also must pay a $10 charge per medical-provider visit. Meanwhile, employees and spouses who participate in a health risk assessment (HRA) program, or an annual physical exam and completion of the HRA certification, will contribute 5 percent of the premium for a single and family plan, respectively.
    Also: The following positions have been reclassified: Account Clerk I in Treasurer’s Office to Account Clerk II; Account Clerk I in Accounting Office to Account Clerk II; and Engineering Technician in Engineering Department to Senior Engineering Technician.
