Why Should I Join?

Retirees need a voice and representation to protect their interests and benefits. Chapter 48 and Sub-Chapter 36 give us a voice at the local level. The AFSCME Retirees Association represents us at the national level. There is strength in numbers and our large membership means more recognition from the Common Council, legislature and policy makers.

As a member, you will receive our informative Retiree Newsletters, the AFSCME Public Employee Magazine and the Primetime Newsletter. You will be invited to attend local meetings, serve on committees, see old friends from work, and make new friends. At the meetings, you can nominate and vote for the board members, get the latest information on retiree issues and give your input on critical issues.

    1. To foster, protect and advance ways and means of improving and protecting benefits for our members.
    2. To take an active interest and action in legislative proceedings and enactments at all government levels when necessary to protect members' interests and welfare.
    3. To preserve the friendships made during active employment.
    4. To promote and support activities, which make our communities a better place to live.
