Milwaukee County Retiree Sub-Chapter 36
Our official name is: Milwaukee County, Wisconsin Public Employee Retiree, Sub-Chapter 36 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFSCME District Council 48. Together, retirees and active members of AFSCME nationwide have almost two million members working to promote a satisfying retirement for each of us.
All retired persons who were members of AFSCME or would have been eligible to be members of AFSCME and the spouses of such persons who, while actively employed were employees of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, are eligible for membership.
Our goals are to continue to educate members on our benefits, as they seem to be changing all the time. We are politically active, and from time to time, we have politicians speak at the meetings.
Sub-Chapter 36 is also a part of the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups (CWAG) and the Wisconsin Alliance of Retired Americans, which is part of the Alliance for Retired Americans based in Washington, D.C. Even though we are not part of the Citizens Utility Board (CUB), we do support their goals and objectives.
